This week in the best Catawiki auctions, we highlight not only two very interesting lots from Ancient Egypt, but also a very curious one of ancient books where a fragment of Aristotle's "The Politics" stands out, in addition to the traditional auctions of meteorites and precious stones.
In the antiques section, many lots stand out, including a pharmacy scale from the early 20th century, a carving of Saint Bartholomew from the 18th century and a carved wooden wall mirror.
Ancient Egyptian Archeology Auction
In the section of ancient egypt objects, we found among others, two very interesting lots. On the one hand a Shabti figurine with hieroglyphs made of earthenware and from a private German collection. On the other, a gold and carnelian amulet pendant 36.2 mm including the loop and 2.2 grams of weight in good condition.
Antique Book Auction
Today we bring you a new section, old books, where we highlight three lots. The first one fragment of "The Politics" of Aristotle in an excellent state of preservation, being a first edition written in Latin from 1489. Another of the outstanding books is «Spanish Palaeography by Estevan Paluzie«, A first edition of 1846 with five fold-out plates, one of them hand-colored, which contains a summary of the incantation on the Alphabets of Unknown Letters, found in the oldest medals and monuments in Spain, as well as the most select of the Spanish palaeography.
The third outstanding book is «Main events of the monarchy of Spain in the year one thousand and six hundred and thirty and nine (1640)«, a first edition of 1640 written in Spanish in an excellent state of conservation, written by Virgilio Malvezzi (1559 -1654) with 132 pages, being an article almost impossible to find.
In the antiques section, we found a carving of Saint Bartholomew from the 18th century of the Aragonese school and in relatively good condition in general. In addition, we highlight a pharmacy scale of the early twentieth century, a narwhal fang replica and a wall mirror with carved wooden frame from Italy, late 19th century.
Natural History Auction
We close the selection with three very interesting batches of minerals and meteorites, highlighting a batch of native gold crystals in quartz 37x23x20 mm and 14 grams of weight, impressive cavansita flowers 9 × 5 cm and 125 g of weight, and a large metallic meteorite found in Argentina.
